(AhlulBayt News Agency) - A group of so-called Islamic State fighters who were in the custody of US-backed forces in Syria have escaped from their captivity according to a CNN report claiming to cite an American official.
A statement from CNN’s exclusive source vaguely claimed that the break-out had happened ‘recently’ and that the group of escapees comprised ‘less than five’ prisoners.
The exact location in Syria where the terrorist prisoners were being held has not been disclosed in CNN’s report.
There are believed to be many hundreds of ISIS militants currently held in detention by US-backed forces at various ad-doc prison facilities across Syria’s east and northeast.
This is particularly true since US-backed forces launched their Al-Jazeera Storm operation in Deir Ezzor province in September 2017.
Russian military authorities have accused the United States of engaging in the reckless policy of retraining over one thousand ISIS detainees and then re-flagging them as ‘democratic forces.’
